The Will Hay pictures are now featured on the Gallery page, taken with a proper camera, not a mobile with ideas above its station.
There'll be some new pictures posted on the Gallery page soon but here's a sneak preview of a couple of them in the form of a 'paint along with Dave' kind of thing, sort of, I'm sure you know what I mean.
So, as mentioned on the FAQ page I've been working on a couple of pictures from Will Hay films, namely 'Ask a Policeman' and 'Oh Mr Porter' which are both just about finished and ready to be photographed properly. I also had some feedback on the pictures featured on the Gallery and one respondent in particular felt that I wasn't exercising the same care and attention to detail with my 'human' subjects as I was with the other 'non human' subjects. And I kind of know what he meant by that but I actually feel the opposite is true and the elements that weren't working for me were the ones where I was paying too much attention to the source material and trying to be too precise. So I decided to loosen up a little and be a bit freer in the hope that things would all come together in the end. You can make your own minds up by watching the slide shows below (but bear in mind these are photos taken on a phone without proper lighting, so rough and ready is the order of the day). From screen grab to finished painting (well almost) in four easy steps and a fair amount of hard work and swearing! Enjoy ...
Work in progress and other stuff that happens.
